Class Description

 

We offer several different yoga classes from beginners to intermediate throughout the

Portland/Beaverton/Tigard Area

Extra Gentle Yoga

This class is designed for people with inflexible, overweight or older bodies. This gentle approach to yoga is ideal for helping to experience the benefits of increased flexibility, improved circulation and more energy. David Ramsden R.Y.T., a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, will lead students through a comfortable and satisfying introduction to Ananda Yoga™. The postures are geared to suit a variety of skill levels. Students will learn to modify postures, in order to stay within the safe limitations of their bodies. Through Yogananda's energization exercises, you will improve your body's awareness, balance, health, and strength. Affirmations and breathing techniques will deepen the body's ability to relax and recharge.

Beginners Yoga

These classes are designed to nurture, calm, and provide a deep feeling of inner renewal. You'll enjoy expert instruction in Ananda Yoga™--including the essentials of safe technique, enabling you to continue your practice at home. Learn how to adapt the postures to your own level of flexibility and experience, while exploring the spiritual dimensions of hatha yoga and the yoga/meditation connection.

Intermediate

This class provides a deeper experience of yoga for intermediate students or advanced beginner, (having practiced yoga postures for at least seven months). This program is physically satisfying and gives an understanding of asanas as a path to inner awakening. We will go more deeply into the practice of pranayama (energy control) with each yoga posture. By holding the postures longer we will deepen the inner experience of breath, energy flows, and affirmations. We will also explore adaptations of the more difficult poses.
